For former members of the military, getting their first civilian job is only part of the mission. Retaining that position is a challenge. Studies have found that less than half of respondents remained in their first civilian job for a full year.
Veterans say the biggest obstacle to gaining employment is finding opportunities that match past military training and experience. Many companies like Comcast and Amazon are working to change both the perceptions and the realities.
