Resume Critique Services

Resume Critique Services

At the MSU Career Center, we provide professional document critiques to help students fine-tune their resumes, CVs, cover letters, or personal statements. We have created several opportunities for faculty and staff to provide this service to students as a class assignment or supplemental activity.

As students prepare for these activities, we hope that they will first use these free resources to update their resume or additional documents.

  • Career Center Handbook | Check out our handbook to explore additional resources related to resume writing, cover letters, personal statements, and more.
  • Modern Resume Guide | Check out resume examples and best practices when creating your updated, modern resume.

Below are several options created for faculty and staff to take advantage of Career Center services and critiques:

Option 1:
Resume Presentation -  Self/Peer Review

A representative from the Career Center will come to your class and give a presentation on the best practices for creating a well-developed resume. Afterward, students can review each other's resumes or work in peer groups to give feedback. To schedule a presentation, please fill out a program request with a date and time that is convenient for your class. Please submit your program request at least two weeks prior from the date of the presentation.

Option 2:
In-Class Q&A with Resume Review

Students will come to class with their completed resumes, and the Career Center representative will provide guidance and answer any questions that students may have. Students can then review their resumes during the class period with the representative's help. To schedule an in-class Q&A, please fill out a program request with a date and time that is convenient for your class. Please submit your program request at least two weeks prior from the date of the Q&A.

Option 3:
Drop-In Hours

Students can bring their completed resumes to the Career Center on the 3rd floor of Montgomery Hall during our designated drop-in hours: Monday - Friday from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. A Career Center Ambassador will review their resume and provide feedback during their visit.
