Full-Time Internship
Full-Time Internships are open to students of any major and allow students to work full-time and gain real-word, hands-on experience related to their course of study. Students will enroll in EXL3200 and must have completed 24 semester hours with a 2.00 GPA.
Cooperative Education
Co-op is a unique academic program allowing students to obtain valuable real world, hands-on work experience related to their field of study while still in school. Through this program, students participate in three terms of paid, planned, and progressive work experience. Work semesters alternate with school semesters. After completing three work semesters, most students will have gained 52 weeks of work experience before graduation.
Turf Management
Golf and Sports Turf Management students must complete a minimum 12 month or a three-semester co-op at a golf course with an individual who is certified or progressing toward certification with the Golf Course Superintendent Association of America or at a sports stadium with a recognized sports turf manager. One of the three co-op semesters enrolled by the student must be a non-summer semester period. A 2.50 cumulative GPA on all MSU work is required to participate.
Washington, D.C. Internships
Washington, D.C. offers incredible internship opportunities across almost every industry—including government agencies, congressional offices, non-profits, museums, healthcare institutes and think tanks. Bulldogs from all fields of study are encouraged to jumpstart their search by researching different organizations, exploring their websites, and tracking down application deadlines and requirements.
Part-Time Internships
These internships allow students to participate in part-time real world; hands-on experience related to their course of study while also taking academic classes. Students will enroll in EXL3100, must have completed 24 semester hours and have a 2.00 GPA.
PGA Golf Management
PGA Golf Management students will complete (3) internships varying in length from 3 months to 7 months. During this time students will be exposed to many aspects of the golf industry within the pillars of golf operations, teaching and coaching, and executive management. Students must maintain a minimum, cumulative 2.25 GPA to earn credit for their work experience.
Disney College Program
The Disney College Program offers students and recent graduates a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience with one of the world’s most recognized brands. Participants work in a variety of roles across Walt Disney World Resort while also engaging in professional development and networking opportunities. The program blends career-building experience with the excitement of living and learning in a dynamic, guest-focused environment, helping participants develop transferable skills in communication, teamwork, and customer service. Self-Reported Internships
Students completing internships that do not require course registration can document their experience as a Self-Reported Internship. While this will not be recorded on a student’s transcript, reporting it will help showcase MSU’s student experiences as well as strengthen employer partnerships and opportunities.
