Parents & Families

We’re so happy to have your student here at MSU!  It’s no secret that this transition can sometimes be stressful for families too.  You are probably wondering what’s next for your full-of-potential college student, and you can bet there’s lots of excitement ahead as your student goes through a process of self-discovery and career exploration!

The MSU Career Center offers ample services, programs, and resources to support your student.  Our mission is to empower students to develop skills that will enhance career readiness and lifelong career management, and our vision is to be valued by the university community as the premier resource for facilitating the complete career development of students and alumni.

We empower students to take ownership of their career decisions. While the Career Center does not engage directly with parents and families, students are encouraged to utilize our Career Ambassador drop-in hours, schedule appointments with their Career Advisor, and participate in our events and programs.

Regardless of physical distance, your role in your student’s career journey is pivotal. Research indicates that familial perspectives greatly influence students’ career choices. Encourage your student to explore new opportunities and visit our office early in their academic journey.
